To own an e-bike is to love your e-bike. After making a big investment like this, trust us when we recommend learning how to store an electric bike properly so it can live a long, happy life. We’ve compiled a list of the best practices for taking care of a battery. 1. Choose the Right Storage Location 

Indoor vs Outdoor: We definitely recommend storing your electric bike indoors to protect it from weather and the elements. If outdoor storage is necessary, consider investing in a bike cover
Temperature: Keep your e-bike in a climate-controlled environment, ideally between 0-40 °C.
Humidity Control: Avoid damp areas to prevent rust and corrosion.

2. Clean Your Bike Before Storing 

Keep it clean: Especially for longer storage periods, make sure to wipe down the frame, wheels and drivetrain, and ensure that it's completely dry before storing.
Maintenance Check: Take inventory of your ride. Are the brakes functioning properly? Valve caps nice and tight? Accessories secure or need to be removed? Don’t worry – we've got a proper maintenance guide for you as well.

3. Battery Care 

Charge Level: We suggest keeping the battery at around 80% charge for long-term storage for optimal health and performance.
Removal and Storage: Remove the battery from the bike if possible and store it in a cool, dry place. 

4. Secure Your Bike

Locking: Call us crazy, but we’d recommend using a high-quality lock to secure your e-bike, even if it’s in your own garage. And especially if storing your bike in a less secure location.

5. Tyres

Tyre Pressure: Check and maintain proper tyre pressure to prevent flat spots or deformation. 

6. Regular Inspections 

Scheduled Checks: Set reminders for periodic inspections of your electric bike, even if it’s not in use, to ensure everything remains in good condition.
Go above and beyond: Treat your e-bike to a professional tune-up if it will be stored for an extended period.
