Meeresplastik ist ein gigantisches Problem – so gigantisch, dass man sich das Ausmaß selbst mit viel Fantasie kaum vorstellen kann. Unsere Partner von Oceanworks haben es aber irgendwie geschafft. Und einen Prozess entwickelt, mit dem sie Meeresplastik finden, sammeln und für die weitere Verarbeitung vorbereiten können. Manchmal sogar, bevor es das Wasser erreichen kann.
Ganz ehrlich: Wie wissen auch nicht, wie das Verfahren dahinter es schafft, aus den fiesen, bunten Resten diese süßen, blütenweißen Pellet-Zuckerstücke zu machen. Wir wissen aber, dass ein ganzer Haufen Patente und Zertifikate sicherstellt, dass Qualitäts- und Umweltanspruch höchsten Standards genügen.
A bunch of those little pellets get loaded into a machine, then they’re heated up super-duper hot (technical term) until they liquefy and are injected into the Electra Plasket mould. The result is a new, ocean-friendly, amazingly stylish and functional basket made in California. Pretty rad.
